Mrs. Jagiello's Jr./Int. M.E. Class
Mrs. Jagiello's Junior/Intermediate Multiple Exceptionalities Class has been busy with our work and time has moved along very fast. In fact it is hard to believe that March and March Break are just around the corner.
Language: Our focus in language right now is to find the main idea in stories.
We are doing a novel study of the trilogy of books by Gordon Korman called, "Island". The books are being read to the students, a chapter each day. The students' level of comprehension has improved significantly, as is shown by the answers to their novel study questions. We are on the second book of the trilogy and the students seem to be really enjoying it.
In math, the class has been learning about measurement. Presently, we are finding the area and perimeter of many regular shapes. Measurement includes learning to tell time and being able to manage money. We feel that these are very important life skills.
Science: We are still looking at the effects of human activites on our world.
HIstory: We will continue our focus on native studies. The students have completed some great hands-on activities by building some wonderful looking teepees.

Just a reminder about "Pink Shirt Day". On February 29th, everyone is asked to wear a pink shirt. The wearing of pink shirts originally started in Nova Scotia where a young man was bullied on his first day of highschool for wearing a pink shirt. The next day, several of the older students also wore pink shirts showing their support, and indicating that bullying was not tolerated at their school.
Dates to remember:
February 29th-'Wear Pink' Day
March 9th-16th March Break
Book Fair starts Feb 29th
