Mr. Hrynyk's Library and Computer Program
Mr. Hrynyk's Library and Computer Program - February 2012
Welcome to 2012! The Glen Street library is blessed to have 27 computer work stations for student and staff use. Students from JK to grade 8 use the computer lab on a regular basis each week.
We have an extensive collection of Library books to meet student needs and interests. We have easy read or picture books for our Early Years and Primary age students. Our chapter books begin with our ORANGE DOT books for late primary students. We also have Primary Non-Fiction books. Students in the Primary division take out one book per week. Students enjoy the books in the Library and in their classrooms. Books do not go home.
Our junior and intermediate students have a wide variety of fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels to enjoy. Grade 4 to 6 students have a limit of one book to sign out at a time. Students in grade 6 to 8 can take books home. We have a large collection of fiction for GRADE 7 and 8 only. Grade 7 and 8 students are allowed to sign out two books at a time.
Book sign out is for two weeks. Students are expected to care for the books that they sign out and to return them by the due date.
Events in YOUR Library
February - April, 2012
Silver Birch and Red Maple Reading Books
Students from grade 4 to 8 have the opportunity to read Canada's best fiction books here in our Library. Students read books, fill out a leaf, speak to the staff member who read the book and put their leaf on the tree. They can earn the right to participate in Celebrate Reading Pizza Party by reading enough books. This program is ongoing.
Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair wrapped up on Monday, March 5, 2012. A special thank you to the grade six to eight Library Helpers who volunteered to help students through the Book Fair preview, fair set up and take down. These efforts helped as we enjoyed a successful Book Fair at Glen Street.
